Ahmadhiyya International School
Ahmadhiyya International School previously known as Madhrasathul Ahmadhiyaa is a Maldivian private school.〔http://www.ahmadhiyya.edu.mv/media/2014-11/madhrasathul-ahmadhiyya-rebranded/〕 This institution focuses on excelling in International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), General Certificate of O’ level Education (GCE) from Cambridge University and Secondary School of Certificate examination (SSC) locally held in Islamic studies and Dhivehi. It even have the examination centre status for the above in Grades 8,9 and 10 coordinated by Cambridge International Examinations.〔http://www.ahmadhiyya.edu.mv/about-our-school/〕 It is the only private school which got the first place in Cambridge O'level exam in Maldives. Dr. Ahmed Didi was the founder member of the school. The school now provides A'level education to students as well. The examination body for A'levels is Edexcel.
The school he started with 60 students is now one of the topmost schools of Maldives. The school is the official school of Machangoalhi, one of the wards(districts) of Malé and is run by the Machangoalhi Ward Office. The foundation was laid down by Mr. Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom on 4 June 1979 and upon completion, the President once again availed himself on 21 February 1982 to declare open Madhrasathul Ahmadhiyya.〔http://www.ahmadhiyya.edu.mv/about-our-school/history/〕

== How and why the school was formed ==
Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom met with some high ranking private entrepreneurs at Iskandhar School. It was herein decided that children from Machchangolhi Ward, unable to attend school due to various reasons should be given the opportunity to do so. As a result, when a request was made to the president for the acquisition of a plot of land, an area of 8000sq feet was allocated after reclamation.
